Aston Villa predicted XI vs Sevilla: Alysson set for chance

Aston Villa could make up to five changes for Friday evening’s friendly against Sevilla, with Alysson among the players in line for an opportunity at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

Unai Emery will be without several key players because of the international break, opening the door for fringe members of the squad to impress the manager.

Alysson is one of those players expected to benefit from the absences. The 20-year-old has made four Premier League appearances this season, totalling 87 minutes, but has yet to start a league match.

The Brazilian winger could now be handed a starting role against Sevilla.

Marco Bizot expected to start in goal

With Zion Suzuki away with Japan, Marco Bizot is expected to take his place between the posts.

The French goalkeeper’s most recent appearance came on 16 September, when he played the first half of Aston Villa’s 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Coventry City.

Bizot made two saves, conceded once and completed 80 per cent of his passes during that appearance, according to FotMob data.

Villa could keep similar defensive structure

Emery is expected to retain a defence similar to the one used against Tottenham.

Victor Lindelof and Tyrone Mings are predicted to continue at centre-back, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka could remain in the starting XI.

However, Wan-Bissaka may move to left-back because of Matteo Ruggeri’s absence.

That would allow Taylor Harwood-Bellis to operate on the right side of the defence.

Wan-Bissaka made six defensive contributions during the 3-2 victory over Tottenham, according to the source.

Barkley could return to midfield

In midfield, Boubacar Kamara is expected to start alongside Ross Barkley.

Barkley could replace Joao Gomes, while Johan Manzambi is expected to continue in a more advanced role.

Manzambi was involved in the victory over Tottenham, scoring his first goal for Villa and providing an assist. He also completed 89 per cent of his passes in that match.

Alysson could get his chance

Alysson is predicted to start on the right side of the attack, with Emi Buendia expected to remain on the opposite flank.

The Brazilian has already scored once in the Premier League this season, finding the net against Nottingham Forest in a 2-1 defeat.

He is averaging 0.3 shots and 12.5 touches per game, and the Sevilla friendly could provide another opportunity to demonstrate his qualities to Emery.

The manager has previously spoken positively about Alysson’s potential.

After the 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Newcastle in February 2026, Emery compared some of the youngster’s qualities to Leon Bailey, particularly his ability to play on the right side with his left foot.

Emery also highlighted the player’s potential.

Tammy Abraham could lead the line

Up front, Tammy Abraham could be given the opportunity to start against Sevilla.

Brian Madjo has only recently returned from injury, while Nicolas Jackson is away on international duty with Senegal.

That leaves Abraham in contention to lead the attack against the La Liga side.

Aston Villa predicted XI vs Sevilla

Marco Bizot; Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Victor Lindelof, Tyrone Mings, Aaron Wan-Bissaka; Boubacar Kamara, Ross Barkley, Johan Manzambi; Alysson, Tammy Abraham, Emi Buendia.

The Aston Villa News BR verdict

The Sevilla friendly provides Emery with an opportunity to assess players who have had fewer minutes during the campaign.

Alysson is one of the most notable names in the predicted XI, particularly after his limited Premier League involvement so far this season.

The match could therefore be another chance for the young Brazilian to show the qualities that Emery has previously highlighted, while other fringe players will also be looking to make an impression.
