Aston Villa have reportedly joined the clubs keeping an eye on Tobías Andrada, just a few months after the midfielder completed his move to River Plate.
The 22-year-old left Vélez Sarsfield at the end of July and has quickly become an important part of River’s first-team plans. His performances since arriving at the Argentine giants have now seemingly attracted attention from the Premier League.
According to Argentine outlet El Crack Deportivo, Aston Villa have shown interest in Andrada after monitoring his early displays for River.
However, there is no indication that the situation has progressed beyond initial transfer speculation. No negotiations or formal offers have been reported, and the Argentine publication itself makes clear that the midfielder’s name is currently being linked with a potential move to England.

Tobías Andrada, has made eight official appearances for River Plate since joining the club, scoring once.
More significantly, the midfielder has quickly established himself as a regular in the team. River have also enjoyed a positive start under manager Leonardo Ponzio, who has won his first three matches in charge.
Andrada is reportedly one of the players benefiting from the manager’s arrival, with his performances helping him attract attention beyond Argentina.
El Crack Deportivo also claims that other European clubs are monitoring the midfielder, although Aston Villa are the only Premier League side specifically named in the report.
The Argentina national team’s coaching staff are also said to be following Andrada’s progress. If he maintains his current level, a future senior international call-up is being presented as a possibility.
River Plate hold a strong negotiating position
Should Aston Villa decide to pursue the player, River Plate would be under no immediate pressure to sell.
The Argentine club only signed Andrada in July, initially paying approximately €5.1 million for 70% of his rights. The overall value of the deal could rise to around €9.4 million for 80%, depending on the fulfilment of certain performance-related objectives.
Andrada also signed a contract with River running until December 2030.
For now, the midfielder’s rapid adaptation at River appears to be the main reason behind the growing interest in his services. Although his performances at Vélez may have already attracted attention, Aston Villa are now being mentioned as the first Premier League club potentially monitoring his situation.
